As Canadian champion, Geneviève is automatically guaranteed a spot on the Canadian team, but other girls on the team have a good chance of being chosen by their respective national cycling formations. I owe them this opportunity to stand out in these races where they can really demonstrate their potential."

Next year. Look to see her in the Tour De Femmes for sure. However it woks out she said she will be in the Grande Boucle for sure one way or another.

The speculation is that it has something to do with testing.

If memory serves me, last year on the 65 mile road stage (2 main climbs) she solo'd pretty much the whole thing, riding the stage faster than the men's cat. 4 winners, and only 2 minute slower than the cat. 3 winner all of whom were in the bunches until the final climb.

Same race, Bessette raced the men's P/1/2, rather than beat up on the amatuer women like Jeanson. BTW, Bessette finished 8th on this stage, only a minute behind the stage winner J. Page.
Better to leave her at home than to pull a Saturn. Fly your two big guns (O'Neil, Danielson) halfway across the world to the Peace Race only to see them pull out after the first stage with, what else, "stomach problems".

I think that she did make the jump up to "real" competition this year when the World Cup race came to Montreal, which she won. Best women riders in the world were there. How much better should she be looking for?

That's one race at that level on a course that is very much suited to her climbing strength. Two years ago at Cloudsplitter, I asked Andre Abut when GJ would be racing in Europe and he said her team wasn't strong enough for that. I seems strong enough now. I hope that next season she does enough races of high UCI point value to see where she really is developmentally.

I hope that she does, because she seems to be a pretty damn good talent. I agree with you that her team does seem strong enough these days to take their act on the road to Europe and battle with the other women's teams that are strongest in the world. Would love to see it. I think she would or might be good for women's racing in general, as we see a decline in it (look at the number racing in the Grande Boucle this year). I do remember getting passed by her last year out in Arizona, and she looked fast. She caught the men's 3 field by herself.

She is indeed quite a talented rider. I'd love to see Cycle Sport and ProCycling cover some of the elite women's races. That would help generate some badly needed publicity for the women. They could also get Danielle to do bike tests on alternate months with Chris. :-)
