Beds CC are consulting the public before completing their Local
Transport Plan by sending a travelling exhibition around half a dozen
sites in the county.
Very good of them, I'm sure, but unfortunately the roadshow spends about
three days in each place, all during working hours except for one
Saturday in Dunstable. So not very easy to visit...
Details of the LTP can be found at http://www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/
(sorry, no deep linking - look under Transport). I haven't yet found
a timetable for the roadshow, but it might be there somewhere.
That site contains the phrase ' This programme will be supplemented by
continuing to make it easier to cycle on the public highway, so that
cycling both on and off the highway grows.' which sounds encouraging,
but some of the road marking schemes actually implemented to date
are far from perfect.
If you live or work in Bedfordshire, and can get to the exhibition,
please do so. Apparently, council officers will be on hand at lunchtimes.
Further details were advertised in 'Bedfordshire on Sunday' last
weekend. If you can't find a copy, email me and I'll check for you.
