I have just replaced my fsa k force lite seatpost which came on a new bike with a USE alien carbon post (as i need a 0 setback), and i can get this thing to stay put ! it slips about 10mm within the first 5k's of riding, and will slide way down if i hit a small pothole etc... The seat tube has never had grease/lube in it, so its not that.
Also i rode with the k force carbon post for 3 months without problem, so is there any reason for this ? and should i cut my losses and get a sexy new thomson masterpiece.
OH and they are both 27.2 as needed :p

Do you have the shim, its an insert in to the seat tube that the post thne fits in to. I thought if your frame was 27.2 you got the shim and the smaller Carbon Alien post 25.0, see http://www.use1.com/shims/shims.htm for what I'm talking about.
I have a Colnago Dream Plus with a Carbon Alien and I use the shim, it never slips down, I have issues with getting it tight enough to not move front to back and some creaking with a new Selle Italia Saddle.
But back to your problem, I think somewhere on the www.use1.com it recomends a shim.

It is the new style which is a 27.2 diameter for use with 27.2 seat tubes without the shimas that used to be needed with the 25.0 ones.
I think im gonna go with a new masterpiece as im sick of stuffing around with it and not being able to do the riding the new bike deserves.
Id still like to here if anyone knows how to stop a carbon post slipping ?
