Seems like the researchers are debating whether protein or fat kills
appetite. I say it's the removal of carbs! 🙂

It is far wiser to simply befriend hunger, which is your healthy
appetite.

There's a lot of nonsense about low carb dying. This is nonsense. It's just
that it's slowly becoming mainstream (at least certain aspects of it).

I think the reports have confused the demise of low carb junk foods
rushed to the market, loaded with AS and transfats, with the end of low
carb eating, which relies on store perimeter products, not boxed goods.

Time for studies to determine that for real?
It's long been my impression that the same number of calories of fat
cuts appetite the most, of protein in the middle, and of carbs the
least. With carbs there's even the problem that low glycemic carbs
can be filling but the same calories of high glycemic carbs can
increase appetite rather than decrease it.

I'm convinced protein is the appetite-killer. Always seemed that way
for me.
Of course, the problem is that all the high-protein foods I tend to
eat also tend to be high in fat, so it's hard to say exactly what has
been working for me.

Test for yourself:
Pick a day of high-fat/medium-protein for N calories and see how
hungry you feel. Then pick a day of high-protein/medium-fat for
the same N calories and see how hungry you feel. This is why I'm
not all that interested in boneless-skinless chicken breasts as a
food staple, the leaner meat isn't as satiating for me. True for me
but one person doesn't make a statistically valid study.
Which is better for loss and why:
500 calories of high-protein/low-fat very lean turkey breast plus a
big helping of steamed brocolli.
500 calories of trimmed beef plus a big helping of steamed brocolli.
500 calories of beef bits dipped in nut oil plus a big helping of
steamed brocolli.
If "a calorie is a calorie" they would all result in the same loss,
but dietary fat indirectly causes glucagon to be released and
glucagon is the hormone that pulls stored fat out. But is the third
one also better because it results in less hunger? Does for me,
should have a study to see how much of a trend there is.

God damn Chung is repetitive. There doesn't seem to be any topic he's

I've lost 45 pounds in about 6 months. Without going hungry.

Nope. It is the truth.
Hunger and healthy appetite are one and the same.

The state of being without hunger despite an empty stomach is
pathological and is the medical definition of anorexia.

Anorexia = without appetite. In medical terms, it is a symptom. Perhaps
it's a symptom of good health and regular eating. Don't be confused
with anorexia nervosa, which is not what he's describing. Also, the
poster never suggested that he had a disease, so perhaps it's not
symptomatic at all.

I think this is a meek shall inherit the earth kind of thing. That
topsy-turvey Jeeves kind of vision JC was big on. I don't think he's
suggesting that being hungry is good, but rather it was a symptom of
poverty, and the poor were gonna be well off in the after. It doesn't
hang that hunger, apart from not being able to afford food in the
capitalistic society that JC was speaking against, was good in and of
itself. Meekness, likewise, would be a quality of the disenfranchised.
If you were meek and rich, you were still screwed in the after. And if
you weren't meek and you were poor, you probably were well off (I'm
thinking of the apostles and Luke and Paul, who were all certainly poor
and mostly not meek).

So, it's better to be dizzy and cranky now, becuase you won't be later?
No. It is wiser to befriend hunger so you will no longer fear it. The
weakness and irritability typically arises from the fear. Dizziness on
the other hand may indicate low blood pressure which can arise from
becoming overmedicated on blood pressure medications when one starts
eating less.

These morons still don't get it. It's not the protein that reduces hunger,
it's the lower proportions of carbohydrates that are having that effect. No
insulin swings. That's why the thickheaded idiots say they "don't

Peter,
The moronity of some so-called researchers is beyond belief.
Did you catch the recent health news release where they discovered that
people drinking 4 regular colas a day had much higher blood pressure
than people drinking a lot of coffee and concluded it must be from the
sodium?

Keeping it on topic?
Andrew, unless Jesus has something germane to say about diabetes, (and
as far as I am aware he wasn't a diabetic,) or has some advice about low
carb diets, then Jesus and all references to him are completely off topic.
Of course when it comes to his Daddy, that is an entirely different
matter. Daddy has already expressed his opinion of diabetics, after all,
didn't he give them the disease in the first place?
