I can't tell from here ;-)

Put in as much time an effort as you can summon up the energy for into
adjusting it, particularly paying attention to the angle of the whole

If it's not an adjustment thing then it could be due to that distorted
cage (or maybe even the condition of the chainring?).

Straighten it, and make sure it's parallel to the rings. And also
make sure it's the right distance from them, per the instructions you
downloaded from shimano.com.

I had a lot of trouble getting my 105 front mech to shift onto the
little ring, and it turned out to be the cage mounted too far from the
rings (and ever so slightly out of parallel).
