I like Asics - they tend to fit me well. New Balance is well known for offering wide sizes. Nike has
a nice advertizing budget. Brooks does not.

Hi Remo,

I would recommend that you go to a specialty running store (ie: not foot locker or something like
that, but an independent local shop owned and operated by runners) and find the brand which fits
your foot the best. Have the sales person analyze your biomechanics and recommend the right shoe for
you. A shoe that works well for one person, won't necessarily work for others. If you don't mind
sharing what city you live in, you may receive some recommendations for a good local running shop,
otherwise I would do a search for running clubs in your area and find out from members what
specialty shop to visit. I think any of the big name brands (Nike, Asics, Saucony, New Balance) make
quality shoes, it is a question as to what shoe is right for your biomechanical needs, and what shoe
fits your foot well. A specialty running store should only carry quality shoes. The big name brands
do make a few cheaper models, which won't hold up well for running, but you should not find these in
a specialty store.

Don't buy cross training shoes for running. Buy a shoe designed to run
in.

Go to a running store nearest you. Even if it is 2 hours drive away it will be worth it to have
somebody see you run in the shoes you plan to buy. You don't give any specifics so I can't recommend
a shoe for you. I've done most of my years of running in Nike and a little in Asics. I have a narrow
heel which is the ideal type for Nike. I've been happy with both brands.

Lastly don't cross post to so many groups especially off topic groups. Knowing the
rec.bicycles.racing group as I do you'll get quite a few flames in response.
