Hello. I need to change the tires on my bike but I need some help. I bought the bike used with Continental Grand Prix 4 Season DuraSkin tires 700-23. It says mount only on hooked type rims. Do I need to put a certain type of tire back on? Any reccomendation on tires to go with? I don't race and I want something durable. I was also thinking of putting a set of tubes while I am changing tires. Is there any particular tube I need to use. The rims are JET HED if it helps.
Also is there an online store you would recommend? There isn't a big selection of that size on ebay.

Any clincher type tire will do. 700 x 23c is probably the most commonly used road tire size going right now so there should be tons of them on eBay. Personally if you're not doing any racing or club riding and you're looking mainly for durability, I'd put on the fattest tires that your frame will take (like a 700 X 27 or 28c) but that's just me and I'm sure you'll get a lot of other opinions. Fatter tires make for a more comfortable ride and you won't notice any loss in efficiency. As for the tubes you just need to match them to whatever tire size you choose, make sure you get the right type of valve (I'm sure it's Presta in your case), and make sure that the vavle stems are long enough to make it through the rims.

Hey, thanks a lot. How would I identify what type of valve stems I have? When you remove the aluminum straw there is a threaded stem that you have to unscrew to put air. I guess when you tighten it down it locks the valve. On the tube is WF SL 700 18-25. What do you think?

I'm sure you have a Presta valve the way you described it. It sounds like you have a valve extension to get it to reach through the rims (can't figure out what else the aluminum straw that you're referring to would be). I don't know what the "WF SL" means but you have a 700c tube (700c is the diameter) that will fit tire widths from 18-25 cm (probably larger too but that what the manufacturer recommends).
I put those Conti tires on my Trek in July. had a flat second day out, but no problems since then for about 1200 miles.
The valves should be Presta which is the thinner type valve. go look at your car and you will see fatter valves on the car tires called a schrader valve. you need to unscrew the top of the valve to add air. that is the small screw on top of the valve which is part of the valve. you need to screw that valve back closed after you add air. there is another screw at the base of the valve (that nut will come off, the valve you unscrew to add air will not) which screws on when you put on the tube and holds the valve in place on the rim.
700 18-25 is the size of the tube. 700 rim (pretty much standard on road bikes) to fit a tire with a width of 18 to 25. the Contis you have are 23. I usually inflat to 110 psi.

Do not, no matter how cheap they are, ever, ever, buy those cheap and nasty Michelins which are standard fitment to the Giant Road Bike range. Their tread is not actually tread, it is just sidewall which goes all the way around. Gets punctures all the time and the grip is shocking. they are garbage
