they can. and if they do, stop riding immediately! walk home. but
it's most unlikely. take the wheel out and squeeze the fork blades
together with *one* hand. hard. any creaking or cracking, that fork's
going to fail. otherwise, it's /much/ more likely to be handlebar,
stem, spacer, etc. make sure everything's done up right & you should be ok.

The last time I had a loud creak it was a dry QR (lots of riding in the
rain had delubed it)... but you should definitely check for cracks in
your stem (and bolts), bars, and fork. Things tend to creak before
breaking... and that is a very bad area to have something break. With
only 400 miles I would suspect a loose fitting or lack of lube, but it
is best to be safe.

Overhaul the HS, adding grease, and also the front hub axle. Ksyrium
front hubs can be noisy.

What's a "dry" quick release? The reason I ask is that I once had a
persistent creak out of the front end. It turned out that it was either
the axle/dropout interface or the QR face/dropout interface (both SS/Al
contacts). I discovered that it happened after rainy rides. The cure
is to clean and wipe lightly with oil.
