I have incurred the wrath of Himself by accidentally binning his valve core extractor. I shall try hunting down an LBS next week (we've just moved, so we haven't found them yet) but in the meantime does anybody know somewhere online where I might find one of these beasts please?
Mr Google has been uncoperative thus far, alas.

What is a valve core extractor? And would it, plus a new valve core, be any use in making a tube I ruined by snapping off the centre bit of the volve assembly? And where would I get these?

OK, panic over, I've now found the ones inside the bottles of Slime we bought to put in my trike tyres.
I'll be the red-faced person in the corner over here then.... -- Carol "This might as well say "bing tiddle tiddle bong". It's complete gibberish!" - Rodney McKay, Stargate Atlantis

That sounds like a Presta valve - some are replaceable, some aren't - Himself says if they are they've usually got different coloured bits, but that the valve core thing is more a Shrader (car-type) valve thing.
I always use Shrader tubes, because I am exceedingly clumsy and prone to break Presta valves if I so much as look at them funny. Schraders are a lot more forgiving to the ham-handed among us, I find.

Dust cap/Schraeder valve core extractors would be available at a H*lf*rd's or motospares place not too far from most people...
