  1. I'm thinking of coming along on the "Smith's Gully General Store" bunch
ride this Sunday. Is that okay, any rules? I found a map in a previous
post and can see where you guys start (cnr Doncaster and Tram Roads at
07:20). I live in Preston, hopefully I'll be able to find my way to the
    start.

The only place where there are no rules is on the hills... anything (race
    legal) goes 🙂

Be sure to introduce yourself to everyone, we look after first timers by
yelling out corners etc.. Stick with the bunch and you'll learn the route
    in no time..

    cheers,

The only rule is you don't turn up for a first ride and blow everyone
away on the main hill. From memory that would include Gags, Blah, Ess,
GPL, JayWoo, Jazmo ... actually it would be easier to say everyone
except me, tonyk and Flying Dutch.

Nope. if yer heading out along Bell St you may see Ess or others heading over too 😄

    $ for coffee/muffins

rules? uummmm, yeah, what DaveB said 😄

  6. One rule is to fan the fires of competition between Ess and GPL at
every possible point. Eg: As GP comes pst (as he does) on the big
uphill, mention that you heard Ess say that GP has little chicken legs
and can't climb. Or on Burgundy St, mention that GP was talking about
Ess' mum (and how she can't climb, just like her son).

heh, I like it... but this Sunday "I might just take it easy*"

    cheers,

  8. Quick question for us 'near-bell st' people, where do we hook us with you guys, and around waht time. Can't make this sunday....racing the 12-hour in Beechworth.

  9. lol! Yeh, that's got to be the best rule. Usually to be used after
everyone decides to do the tt on the proviso that we "do it easy this
    week".

I've considered doing that but with my low gearing I'd get left for dead
on the flat and downhill sections. Might head out on my own one day and
    give it a go.

Yeah me too, just going to take it easy 😉

Con should be along again this week.

We end up back on the Kew boulie around 11-11:30ish... just hurry the muffin munchers along and you'll be fine 🙂

ARGGGHHHHH! With all these newbies along, I should come along, but I
promised myself, one of these days I must do Bike Life's 1:20 ride.
    Choices.

I think the full route finishes around 11:30 but there are a few choices
on where you can jump off depending on where you need to go. I jump
off at Heidelberg and usually home by 10:45. Come along and we can work
out the best place for you to bail.

  17. hmm im stuck between the 1/20 or a BR. I'll try and convince me old man to come out with you lot.

  18. Moving this weekend so another poor excuse.
Still problems with the top of my right calf, fekking thing wont stop acting up.
    Those time pedals are cursed.

  19. Nor I, rode today. I took the easy way out to Kinglake; Hurstbridge, Aurthur's Creek, Whittlesea, blah blah blah. Still getting my climbing leg speed up to scratch. I did Humevale for the 1st time too, noice. By the time I got to Kinglake I was still feeling good so-s I dropped down to the Melba Hwy then climbed back up. Coffee @ Kinglake then back the same way. Ended up doing 180kms (28av)😕 He's me thinking I'm going out for 120kms or so. The day was just too good to come back too soon🙂

Bah! One rule and do you think he could follow it? That's it, I'm riding
    Beach Rd for now on.
