It won't work with dropouts, only with old-fashioned rear-opening fork
ends as seen on most track frames.

(The ad copy on that page incorrectly refers to rear-opening fork ends
as "dropouts" which can lead to unnecessary confusion.

You don't need it anyway, if your axle is properly seccured.

If you use nuts, make sure the threads and the nut/washer contact area
    are well lubricated.

If you use a quick release, make sure you use a good (i.e. Shimano or
    Campagnolo) skewer. See: http://sheldonbrown.com/qr

It works quite well. You can't see the bit on the other side that the
thumbscrew pushes against, which butts up against the end of the
dropouts. I view the bottle opener as silly, however...but having
some whimsy in a design is not a bad thing, it serves as a reminder
not to take everything so seriously.

More info: Yes, as Sheldon points out, you have to have the type of
frame that has horizontal dropouts (yes, I know, those aren't actually
"drop"-outs when they're horizontal, but the term seems to have become
stuck on them anyway), and yes, if your axle is correctly secured,
there shouldn't be a need for the gimmick anyway. That said, there's
still a certain amount of fiddly-bit rightness in having an adjustment
widget in that spot, as I have come to appreciate on my ancient Puch.

Here's a better photo of the item as installed, which makes the offset
    of the thumbscrew more obvious:

If that URL gets clobbered, just go to Performance Bike and search for
    Tuggnut.

    Hope that proves illuminating.

Thanks for the replies and from what Sheldon says I can't fit one and don't
    really need one anyway.

    "Horizontal dropouts" are something *else*.

The O.P. was using the term correctly, I believe.

I understand why ignorant people sometimes misuse the useful and
meaningful term "dropout", but since you clearly _do_ understand, why do
_you_ deliberately use the incorrect term?

This merely promotes confusion, and benefits nobody.
