Memory Map and pocket PC

I'm thinking of buying Memory map but after having looked into it, it would
appear to be better to have a palm top.
Any general tips about models problems would be handy
Now we're getting on a bit we tend to drive to a region and spend a few days
wandering, then move on.
Mostly in UK

Despite being one of these people who love there gadgets and I am yet
to try using maps on my pocket pc for walking. There are several issues
which have stopped me, firstly given the weather I usually choose to go
out in, I'm reluctant to use it in the rain despite using a
'waterproof' cover and also the possibility of breaking it whilst
scrambling etc, the limited battery life etc all lead to the
possibility of leaving you in the middle of nowhere without a map,

I've always either has a proper OS map or printed one out on the basis
that when it comes to the crunch there's less to go wrong with a bit
of paper! (with the exception of it getting wet and falling apart or
blowing away in the wind!) with this in mind if I did use my pocket pc
for maps I'd still take a paper map in case it broke so it makes it a
bit redundant for walking.

Anyway enough babble - not really answered your question, but IMO
pocket pc's good for using in the car as sat nav to get you there but
not for walking.

Navman Pin 570 is popular with SARDA members (Search and Rescue Dog
Association)

I've seen one with Memory Map and Anquet maps installed. Quite
impressive.
