  1. At breakfast last Saturday, with friends, I shunned the toast and hash
browns. My plate was a mountain of a 4 egg omelet made with bacon and
sausage and cheese. I, of course, asked for a side of mayo to spread on it.
In place of the hash browns they gave me a scoop of cottage cheese.

This is filled with fun and irony. One of my friends is very picky in his
carby fatless breakfast. I gave him my toast (with a twinge of guilt).
Month after month he sees my way of eating, yet he sticks to his cereals and
fruits and breads. A few times over the last year he has slipped and
lectured me about exercise, and suggested I was doing things all wrong. He
has a weight problem, exercises regularly, and gets nowhere. Yet, he seems
certain that his way is best. Half the restaurants are not carby enough for
him. He refuses to go to those.

Sometimes he is condescending, and others he seems to be repressing anger.

At breakfast I am careful to say nothing about my way of eating. They know.
    They see. They reject.

At another restaurant the omelet comes with a plastic cup of sour cream. I
ask for the mayo too, and mix it all together.

Okay, now you've done it: you've gone too far! How on earth could you mix
mayo and sour cream and NOWHERE mention jalapenos or salsa? Unfathomable!
