in the eerly 90's, there was a guy i rode with that had one, a basic lugged steel road bike with slackish angle and longer chainstay type geometry. good all- japanese build of the time, quite rideable as entry or training, and probably worth a rebuild if not thrashed.

I have one I use as a winter bike now- mudguards, old bits etc. A bit heavy but an OK entry level frame. I think that Kinesis frames are the same thing. Rides in a predictable but unexciting way. Was inexpensive when I bought it about 7 years ago, and it is still going strong. Gets abused every winter here in Scotland, but remains in fine nick. This is a 7005 Al frame and fork, so may be different from the one you are talking about.

I have owned a team issue for 8 years with no problems, very light and stiff feel which climbs well and descends at approaching 50 mph like a dream. Happy to answer any more questions...........

Hello! I'm very happy to know there is AT LEAST one other person out there with Shogun Team Competition experience. I lived in Japan for 3 years in the late 80s/early 90s and brought back with me a Shogun Team Comp I bought there: black, white and red, all top of the line Shimano XT with biopace. I have several bikes but, aside from my very first MB--a Specialized Rockhopper reworked by Scott Nicol of Ibis (1986) and named the "Wombus" (no joke)--it is STILL my favorite ride. And it does ride well: stiff, smooth, no complaints.

I'd love to hear from others who have this bike.

A friend has a Shogun. It's made of Tange butted tubing and is lugged. It has a complete Shimano 600 group. As has been mentioned, long chainstays. A good sold dependable ride, he's had it for over 10 years and used to commute on it with no problems.
