Riding glasses

At the cheaper end of the budget, EBC do some own-brand "blades" which
come with interchangeable lenses for ~ £20. They're reasonable, although
the lenses do scratch easily (They come with a soft case but tend to get
chucked in whatever bag is handy!).

My experience of modern photochromatics (Automagical lenses!) is that
they are still [censored]. My dad's photochromatic glasses respond reasonably
rapidly to increased light levels, but can take some time to let light
through again once the level drops. Not good!

Bolle safety glasses through RS or similar, for just over a tenth of
your projected budget. Serious quality construction and they even look
cool.

The only thing about them which isn't "cycling specific" is it doesn't
say that on the packet. Oh dear... If you can live without that more
than you can live without £44, not the world's greatest problem (I have
a pair of the grey ones and have done plenty of cycling in them, they're
fine for it).

Only much point going for "real" cycling ones if you want/need
interchangeable lenses and/or prescription inserts. For that I have a
pair of Bolle Vigilantes, but if it's a single task pair (which for
winter use basically it is) then the Silium safetys are fine, and at
least as comfy, for a fraction of the price.

I can beat that! Go to http://www.tchibo.co.uk and search for "sports
glasses" For only 3.99 you get:

Look good. And you can still resort to the Bolles if you want a big
name with a logo on the side... ;-)

Pity they don't do the Dale-a-like pullovers in Real Sizes though.

Yes, they look fine and for the money a bargain. I didn't mean I wanted
glasses labelled as "cycling specific", I just meant I wanted to buy a
pair that I'd use specifically for cycling. My bad. I'm not worried
whether they say they're for cycling or not as long as they work.

Mmhm. No prescription needs and for a tenner I could buy clear and
yellow versions.

I get Bolle bandidos locally. at 2-70 each all concern about scratching
them is gone, and they work and look perfectly acceptable.
