Each time I looked in to the Nike shoes for cycling, they were made by DMT and in some cases the sole was branded with "OCLV" carbon fiber but other than that and the buckles there were almost no other differences. I swap the buckes out for the latest Sidi buckles anyway so that does not effect me.
I ended up with '03 and '05 DMT RSX models and I love them. They have forever raised my expectations of cycling shoes. I have had my eyes on the latest DMT and Nike shoe models but I can't find anyone that has them in stock. So far I have never had to resort to buying shoes online. I would like to know if anyone has tried both DMT RSX and the similar Nike or the DMT Flash and he latest Nike "Lance" shoe. I want the Flas in silver but the "Lance" shoe in silver with blue is cool too. I want them before next spring but I will buy them as soon as I can find a pair that works for me. If anyone has seen them within an hour of Denver and FOrt Collins or the SF Bay Area and Central Valley, let's just say no more than an hour from Sacramento or Fresno and no more than an hour off of Highway 5.
How many pairs of shoes do you need? You have a 03 and 05 version, YET you want a new one? Why? Do you really wear out your shoes? How many miles do you ride? Do you walk on these shoes? Why on earth do you need THREE PAIRS of shoes?!!!

Another shoe that uses the DMT sole is the 94-5 Time RXS Carbon. I got a pair in the spring, and just got another (reserve) pair to stay happy a good many years.
At the (October)Paris bike show, I learned that Time has discontinued the DMT sole for one of their own, for 2006. My reason for getting the spare shoes. -- Bonne route !
Good deal, thanks Sandy (who understands my motivations exactly). I remember my first pair of Sidi Genius shoes (that are much better than recent models) that fit me perfectly and also had what I find to be the best closure design. The genius shoe used to have almost the same closure as recent DMTs/ The old Sidi was even better because it had the one piece heel \ closure that put pressure on a relatively large section of plastic that distributed the pressure over a large section of the top of the foot. This alllowed a tighter setting with less risk of hot spots. That extra piece is the only thing the DMTs are missing but the CF sole makes up for it for me because I find that a stiff CF sole allows a looser setting. I think the flex of a given shoe is a big factor in how tight one needs to tighten the shoes. Before I got the DMTs (my first CF soled shoe) I would instinctively reach down and tighten my shoes during crunch phases of fast rides or races. I continued to do the same thing out of habit until I realized one day that I did not need to do this with the new shoes.
I don't *need" any more shoes but I would like to have 2 more pair of DMT to give me a sense that I won't get stuck in years to come. I also tend to look at shoes at the start of the rainy season because I like to start the spring with a freah pair. I always rotate my shoes, especially when they get wet. They can stretch too much when you ride them on consecutive days when they get drenched. The manufacturers claim the synthetic materials do not stretch but that is BS. They may stretch less than leather (ok, for sure they do) but if you have a pair of shoes that are on the large end of fitting well and then use them through the winter, you can end up needing orthotics for them (or worse) by spring.
Oh yeah, I guess I should mention that I have a pretty severe problem with my right ankle (car accident) that makes me really sensitive to precise fit. If stop considering the needs of my right foot (judging by my left) then I would probably not be so finicky about shoes and saddle height.
