Well, /second/ worst in truth I suppose. But grim, grim, grim from a
weather POV.
Sheeting rain and hardly any wind at 0600 this morning. Discovered that
my waterproof boots are rather deficient in what should be their
defining characteristic. And the pockets in my jacket leaked, causing my
personal stereo to opt for early retirement.
Leaving the office just before lunch, I glanced at the looming clouds
and went the head-to-toe waterproofs option (after, of course, donning
damp t-shirt and sodden boots from the morning). No sooner had I set off
than the sun came out as I toiled into God's own headwind. I think I
averaged about 7 miles an hour. And 1 curse a minute.
Truely ghastly.
Being a sad git, I record all my transport miles and costs on a
spreadsheet[1]. I really felt I should have got more points for today.
[1] When I got rid of the car I wanted to track how much out of pocket I
would be. For the record, it's actually the other way around - since 1st
Jan this year, I've saved 4,427 UKP. Even deducting the 2,296 UKP I've
spent on taxis, trains and bike depreciation/maintenance, I'm still
easily quids in.
