  1. I have been running for over 20 years -- now at 51 I have suddenly
developed extremely painful joint flare-ups. This has all started in
the past three months. Prior to this there I have never had arthritic
    type problems.

The flare-ups seem to hit once every 2-4 days...last two days and then
go away. The doctors have run all the blood test for all the auto
immune diseases and they all come back negative.

My wife (a non-runner) observes they seem to be worse after a long
training run (I'm training to run my third marathon) -- does anyone out
there have a similar condiiton, and if so, can you tell if longer runs
(13-26 miles) tend to bring on flare-ups?

    Thanks,

    DSRS

56 year old fitness runner here. Are you on any new meds that might be
the source of your problem? My family has a history of heart
problems....big time. Two years ago a doctor tried me on several statin
drugs. Body parts that I didn't even realize I had, started hurting.
    Can't comment on arthritis...yet.

Sudden increase in mileage or terrain? Trip or fall? New/different
shoes? Less time in recovering from a previous marathon

You know what they say, if it hurts it's too much and maybe some rest or
backing down is needed and a trip to the GP for checkup.
