Huffy leaves bankruptcy

It would be kinda cool if Huffy made a $300 recumbent. I'd buy one to
try.

At the XMAS party that my LBS threw each year the highlight activity
was the "Huffy Toss." Modeled on the Highland games the winner was the
person who could "toss" the Huffy the farthest. That ws the best use we
could find for the Huffy and I am happy to see that they will still be
available for the event.

Ditto! We had one of those at a Christmas Charities fix-up a few years
back... it was the highlight of the day!

They will never improve their branding image without a name change. How
about Huffy-Davidson.

ride, compared to all the other Kmart/Wally World bikes out there. The
only thing better is an old Schwinn electro-forged. 500,000 bums on
bikes agree...

The Schwinn is rebuildable, all the others are throwaways. But hey,
Huffy was made in USA, and when they put their minds to it they could
make a good bike.

My Huffy at the moment has, let's see, 60,000 miles on it.

The DUI guys I see around here are usually on NEXT double boingers. It seems
like they would be better served with one of the NEXT hybrids. Now that
WalMart is selling the GMC Denali road bike, I wonder if that will become
the DUI ride of choice? I didn't see rack eyelets on it, so it would be
difficult for them to mount the milk crate.

Who needs eyelets when there is hose clamps and duct tape.

Even worse, I've been keeping up 8k miles a year since 1971; up until it was
stolen, in I guess in 1988, it was on a Raleigh International, which was
pretty high-end at the time. I went to a fat tire then and have stuck with
it; fewer flats, nicer ride, better load-carrying, cheap.

I just count commuting miles, which is about all I do these days except for
occasional errands that lengthen it out a lot sometimes. Commuting leads to
daily persistence, which eventually adds up.

There's nothing wrong with a Huffy. Components wear out at the same rate in
the same way, but are just super-cheap to replace. If you need to replace a lot
at once, just get a new Huffy.

The speed difference is more between styles of bike. The fat-tire MTB is
pretty draggy. But then it's just time on the bike either way. A faster
bike just needs more miles.

I believe that if you are happy with it that is really all that counts.
And you seem to be so that is great.
The nice thing is that when yo get a case of "bike lust" you can
satisfy it for very little $$.

I still have my Raleigh International. Reynolds triangle,
stays, and fork; Nervex lugs; eyelets front and rear;
Campagnolo drop outs and fork ends; room for 27" x 1"1/4

Up on a bicycle I am always pleased by the efficiency; you
are settling for less. With a more efficient bicycle you
can still put in the same effort to achieve your work-out
goals; problem is ... you will go faster!
