    Dinner tonight already finished:

Homemade Chicken soup - lots of chicken, homemade chicken stock, made with
fresh vegetables and herbs and rice.
Homemade Bialys and French goat cheese.
    Wine and movie to follow

Yum! The polenta sounds especially good to use some sage before the
plants die off for the winter. I have a forest of sage and another of
    oregano.

We're having a fast and easy dinner. Sabrett's natural casing hot
dogs, potato chips (I don't have eggs to make potato cakes), and mixed
    vegetables.

Dessert will be finishing off the peanut butter tofu pie.

That sounds really delicions! Care to trade a serving of that for a serving
of freshly-made Black Forest Cake? :-)

Sounds like a very good trade!

If I lived next door, I'd be over in a flash. <grin> Everything in your
dinner are favorites of mine, although I've never had polenta made quite
that way (I know I would love it). Would you mind sharing the recipe?

I can share the technique and approximations, as I made it up as I
    went along....

    1 cup corn meal
    3 1/2 cups water
    1 tsp salt

    2 Tbs butter
1 peeled garlic clove sliced as thin as possible
20 medium to large sage leaves, cut into 1/2 inch pieces, stems
    discarded
    4 ounces gorgonzola
    Pepper to taste

Mix corn meal with water and salt in large glass mixing bowl.
Microwave on high for 8-10 minutes, whisking thoroughly after every 2
minutes to prevents lumps. Polenta should be thick and pull away from
sides of bowl when done. Pour into 9 inch square baking pan. You can
go on after this step or put polenta aside at room temp for several
    hours.

Melt butter in small frying pan over medium heat. Add garlic slices
and sage. stir until butter foams and garlic is translucent. No more
    than a minute or two.

Crumble cheese over polenta. Pour butter, sage & garlic mixture evenly
over polenta. Cover with foil and heat in oven until bubbly. (400 for
    about 10 mins)

Even worse... I found leftover pilaf in the refrigerator and had that
    instead of the potato chips.

But I had two dogs so I got my quota of grease anyway!

some herbs topped with meat sauce (red sauce with ground pork and beef).
Antipasti salad (greens, arugula, frisee, pepperoncinis, black Italian oil
cured olives, green olives, roasted red pepper, Genoa, Capicola,
Caciocavallo cheese, Fiore Sardo cheese, and provolone. )
    Fresh Ciabatta bread
Bread Dipping Oil (Cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil, fresh ground pepper,
cracked rosemary, toasted garlic, pecorino Romano, and parmesano reggiano)

    For dessert, Tiramisu!

Mon Dieu! It would take me at least 3 days to make all of this. 1 day for
Tiramisu, 1 day for Ciabatta, 1 day for ravioli.
    Everything I LOVE!

    then fried in olive oil

Steamed sugar snap peas tossed with butter

    Sounds great, especially the polenta.

We had grilled salmon (for me, with chili-shallot-lime butter) and tuna (for
my husband, with wasabi), basmati rice, and brussels sprouts (shredded,
sauteed in butter with pine nuts, seasoned with S&P and fresh lime
    juice...yum!).

Dessert will be Edy's double vanilla ice cream and zebra cookies (choc
cookies striped with white chocolate). Better get scoopin'!

I had dinner at a first birthday party for my grand neice. As there were
many family members of varying ages.. some without teeth (yubg and old), the
meal was centered around softer foods. We had : Shrimp Cocktail, Rollys
Meatballs, baked mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, cheeses, grapes,
birthday cake. It wasn't gourmet, but it all tasted very good.

That is a very nice way with the sprouts. Gotta make that soon.

Yum...DH would love that menu, but tonight he's stuck with salmon
drizzled with lemon infused olive oil (love that microplane) and dill
then lightly cooked over (not in) water in a bamboo steamer. Moist,
delicate, failsafe & seriously good. Will accompany w/ asparagus
risotto(thank you Trader Joe)and a green salad with my house
vinaigrette and the last of the homegrown tomatoes.
