  1. Started an inspection of land near Lowick, Northumberland today. Full
waterproofs and my trusty crag hoppers hat had an airing for the first time
since March! My maps were paper mache within an hour despite using a
weather writer so I gave up and went to Alnwick for a bowl of soup. Doesn't
look like any clearing in the weather tomorrow either. Looks like Cumbria
has come off worse again according to today's look north.

A friend of mine is walking the Pennine Way at the moment and should have
been on Cross Fell today and spending the night camping at Gregs Hut but was
advised not to go because of the dangerous conditions, so to stay on
schedule he paid £30 for a taxi to Alston.
There`s rain and there`s rain and I`m glad I`m not camping in it.
