  1. Low spoke count
Rolf Prima has developed a new paired-spoke carbon wheel featuring just five
    pairs of spokes.

Despite our own hesitance - and that of the UCI - to see a ten-spoke wheel
in mass-start event, company founder, Rolf Dietrich, insists the new Carbon
TT is up to almost anything you throw at it. Given the regulatory
restrictions, the wheel is limited to time trials and triathlons and if you
want to try a similar approach in a road race, you'll have to up the spoke
    count by 20 percent.
    -----------
Why are the new Rolf's not allowed in road races?

probable one of those UCI things like making spinaci illegal, or
maintaining that a bike must be "... and have two equal sized wheels..."

Lots of people felt this was because the UCI are conservative
Euro stick in the muds, or that Spinergy Rex-X's were unsafe, or
that the Euros at the UCI wanted to screw Spinergy (or Zipp or
Hed or whoever) because they're American.

Tell Michele Bartoli's kneecap that Spinergy Rev-X's are safe.
