Yep. You can get a "Travel Agent" to use your existing levers for $20. Never tried those, though.

Are you gonna need a stem? I just pulled one off my bike; its fairly long (135mm 10 degree
rise, I think).

what means, intergrated or seperate. .. they are one unit comprised of a bunch of stuff screwed

derailleur. LBS guy says that it's a pain to use the same levers as the amount of pull (cable
pull) is different. I"ll go ahead and get some sort of head set from him, and let him put it all
together. I"m hoping one of you sweet and not so sweet folks might have what I need in a box
somewhere, and I"m happy to pay a fair price.

I think i follow, but not sure (a bit tired from doing the weekly application/resume run).

I have a combo V lever/shifter set for 7-spd (front and back). and matching brake arms. not sure how
much abuse they will take, but they are yours if you want them. they have had a few years use, but
still function. you may have to do a exorcism to remove the bad Goose demons from them though ;-)

how are you set for a seatpost? i still have that Thomson kicking around with no use for it. it is a
28.6X410 (-3"😉.

cost for all is shipping only (would be a free gift if i was one of them employed folks i read about
in the paper ;-) ). Shipping company of your choice.

The Shimano stuff was usually one unit (shifter & brakes); grip shifts had separate brake levers.
Separate levers are easy to swap out. It could be really tough to get a combo unit with 7-speed
shifter & long-travel brake.

and BTW, the combo lever/shifters are the same models i have seem my LBS sell. not sure what
specific model family they are in, but i figure it is very close to the bottom of the barrel.

but they really do work alright. i just don't know what would happen to them in terms of a crash.
(IOW, what grade plastic and metal was use)

other than their stigma of origin, i see no reason they wouldn't last a season or two more (maybe
more). i just didn't feel they were adequate for my riding.

and besides, i gotta give back to the group somehow to earn the bike parts i received. according to
kathleen, all of my knowledge is worthless, so i fall to the next best thing.

with V brake compatability.
