Strange stuff apparently afoot with the news.individual.net server (formerly News.CIS.DFN.DE). It's
declining to give any messages to Outlook Express (spits) but seems happy to talk to Netscape...

Sounds as though it's being quite sensible, no-one wants to talk to M$Outlook :-)

Sounds like a reasonably intelligent news server.

Yes, but it worked yesterday... I am confused, like a hummingbird unable to decide into which of two
flowers it should stick its beak.

Wot yer mean 'formerly'. No-one has told me of any change and I'm still using the 'old'
    News.CIS.DFN.DE

That's been very quiet since yesterday pm. Just a few posts leaking through on this NG but nothing
    on a couple of others.

Old address does still work, but I'm not sure for how much longer.

news.individual.net seems to be throwing a bit of a wobbly with some newsgroups.

I've just had to unsubscribe then resubscribe to some (including urc) because all the article
    numbers were incorrect or invalid.

    And that's using Mozilla.

Yep, I've done the same and now it talks to OE quite happily, though it does seem to have eaten
most, if not all the posts I made yesterday. Give 'em back, ya filthy Hun!

Cis.dfn, of whatever flavour, seems to have rolled over and died yesterday for a while. Absolutely
no posts whatsoever in a 500+ posts a day, or indeed any other, newsgroup I frequent ..

Been a bit strange for some weeks (and I have moved to the new server identity). Sometimes posts of
mine appear, sometimes they don't. But, if I look at another newsserver belonging to my current ISP
    the posts are always there.

(Outlook Express for news because I cannot be bothered to install yet more software on this computer

I've known Outhouse to simply lose Usenet posts before now. The Berlin servers have never dropped a
post of mine that I know of.

I'm finding responses on a topic I dont remember having read. This is confirmed when I look at the

I seem to have missed an important message somewhere.

Am I supposed to switch to News.Individual and register with them or stay with News.CIS until told
to change, or just sit back and endure missing posts in the hope things will improve.

Does anyone know what is being planned? Mike

Just change the name of the server in your setup from news.cis.dfn.de to news.individual.net, that's
    all you need to do.
