He uses Dura Ace SP 7800. Shimano originally had a "Look"-style pedal in their line back in the late 80's early 90's. In the 90's though Shimano went to an SPD design and discontinued the Look style pedal. I read that Lance always liked the old style due to the larger platform and used an old pair for years, until Shimano introduced the SP 7800 a few years ago. I have an old set of the original Shimano "Look" pedals from the late 80's. They are anchors, but they were certainly a nice pedal.

There's a reason why Dura Ace pedals are called "Lance pedals."

Who doesn't prefer LightWeight wheels? Very arguably there's nothing better. Ullrich used them for many years, and I even think there are some photos around of him (and others) slapping their sponsor stickers on a pair...

thought it was Litespeed frames he fancied. heard he rode one during his first tour win disguised with Trek decals...

He's still using them, and not with stickers. His contract with T-Mobile lets him use any equipment he wants if he buys it himself.

The whole team was riding them in the time trials that year. Trek didn't have a good enough tt bike, so they re-painted some Litespeeds.

I went to a party at the Lightweight factory last weekend, and there were about 10 German pros there, including Ullrich and Zabel. All of them had paid for their Lightweight wheels - Lightweight doesn't give away freebies. But I also saw a photo of Lance using Lightweights in the Tour a couple of years ago. He's since switched to Bontragers but I heard that last year he didn't like them because of problems with the hubs. I think the latesst carbon Bontragers are much improved.

Regarding Lance and Serottas, a Serotta dealer told me that Lance has his own Serotta at home and rides it when he doesn't have to be seen wearing his team strip. Whether the Serotta dealer is a reliable source, I have no idea!

Funnily enough I have some Dura Ace Looks. I think I got them in 1985. I don't know why they're called the Lance pedals - they ought to be called the Nick pedals!
