Last winter my LBS let me borrow a well used-(aka dirty drums) Kreitler Challenger (4.5' alum drums)setup with flywheel and Killer headwind unit. After 3 months, I decided to buy my own, but I decided to buy 3.5" drums. With the exact same bike setup, I now get a tire squeak (both front and back) that is so annoying that I didn't put on the miles I had hoped last winter.
Is this a unique problem...is it because I haven't mastered the rollers?
What tires are others using on their alum rollers?
Anyone tried the new Conti HomeTrainer tire? At $37 (@LBS--$30 @ mail) is it worth it?
I've had the same problem with plastic rollers, and it's usually caused by not having high enough tire pressure. And don't bother with the Conti Home Trainer tires. They're designed to be used with rear wheel type trainers, which wear down regular tires in a hurry. Any tires with smooth center sections will work fine on rollers and never wear out.
