Scientific research has shown that meat, which has a high amount of
saturated fat and cholesterol, can increase the risk of heart disease in
    both men and women.

And yet people on the Atkins and other low-carb diets for years seem to do
well including the beneficial effects of lowered BP, trigliceride and
cholesterol levels (remember the NYTimes articles?). The danger seems to
be when you eat BOTH a high fat and high carb diet. Cut back drastically on
either one of these and the health benefits are realized. Most people don't
seem to realize these high protein diets are not HIGH FAT diets as such.
They're moderate fat/high protein/low-carb diets. And better yet people
    LOSE weight on them. :-)
