OT: "Serenity" Rocks!

risking a theatre to see it (last time I went to the mall where the
theatres are at I got an infection and bled for 6 weeks...).

I like it. About as good as Battlestar Gallactica.

Not as much as Stargate, but, it may grow on me. It seems to have that
potential. Time will tell.

None is as good as Babylon 5, but, nothing ever was.

I have been quite impressed by Battlestar Gallactica. I was prepared
for it to be a redux of the old series, but I was pleasantly
surprised. It's a lot closer to "Blade Runner meets Starship
Troopers." Bummer that the SciFi Friday seasons have all ended.

If you watched all the shows on SciFi, that's it. Those were reruns.
The series originally aired on Fox two or three years ago, and I was
very disappointed when it ended. But for my birthday last year, I got
a boxed DVD set of the whole series, plus a couple of episodes that
never aired. And early this year, while doing some web searching, I
learned that Joss Whedon was doing the movie. It was supposed to be
released in April, but Universal postponed the release because it had
some other big hits coming out in the spring.

BTW, all through the series, Adam Baldwin was funny as hell in the
Jayne character. I wish they could have done more with him in the
movie. But the movie really turns Summer Glau into a star. She's not
Milla Jovovich, but she's getting closer.

I loved the previews for this movie. She's fantastic. The fighting came
as a surprise the first time I saw the trailer. I assumed she was this
waif needing protected by the people with the big guns and then
*BAM!!!* Of course I'm curious about her origin or secret. Will be
checking it out eventually.

Tonight I saw A History of Violence. Good stuff, but I wasn't
especially thrilled by the way the film ended. Overall, though, I
enjoyed it.

I absoultely loved Bab5. I still think it could have been better by
making it a bit grittier (it was still a bit too clean star trekky for
me). I was going to go through all the seasons when locked in the
isolation room during my transplant, but I couldn't hold out and watched
them (from the isolation room during a different treatment) back in
April. I've got farscape for the transplant now. We'll see if I can hold
out :-)

BF and I went to see Flight Plan on Friday. Another fine movie. But the
folk that were there to see that Serenity movie were all dressed like
freaks. What was that all about?

Not a chance. It was definitely like a Sci Fi convention was in town. One
guy was wearing a leather duster. Now mind you, it was 86 degrees in
Atlanta on Friday and he was in a leather duster!
