I have a specialized alez comp tripple. When I try to shift from the middle ring to the small ring it doesn't shift. It may take a couple of times of going back and forth for it to shift. Is it just the cable that needs to tightened to loosened? Which way should I turn the adjustment knob?
Thanks,
Justin

If it's a cable tension issue the fact that it's not dropping into the samll ring would mean the cable is too tight and you'd need to screw the adjustment barrel in by turning it clockwise. It could be that lower limit screw on the front derailleur isn't adjusted properly too though.

Thanks that helped a lot.

Thanks,
Justinwww.parktool.com has the whole adjustment drill in the repair section. May be more than a cable tension issue.could also be cable, casing or even shifter issue. Cheap place to start is proper derailer adjustment.
