Kryptonite Keeper Lock ,,,,,,,,, question

near the bottom of their range on U-locks. Kryptonite says it's "
Bicycle Security for Low Crime Areas and Well-Lit Lock-Up Situations!"

Bike security is kind of a "best judgment" sort of thing. I should
know, my bike was just stolen yesterday. I'd say it depends a lot on
where you're going to be leaving your bike, and how long you intend to
leave it there (though the location is more important than the duration).

FWIW, I think their "New York" locks are considered the best, but they
weight a ton. But your bike will probably be waiting for you when you
come back, so that's something...

Really, it comes down to how much you value your bike and how much you
can invest in a lock. If you feel that a $100 lock isn't worth it, then
go for something cheaper. Bike thieves are opportunists, so they'll
usually go for what offers the best reward for their time and trouble.
Unlocked bikes get picked up quickly, and minimally locked bikes (like
mine was) get picked up next. I'd say for most situations, a U-lock is a
good call because it requires some heavier tools to get through. You
might want to back it up with a cable lock, though...

Well, that's one way of looking at it, but I would say this: You are
entitled to a replacement lock of the quality the old one PURPORTED to be.
It would be unfair for Kryptonite to leave you with less quality than you
paid for.

Don't miss the point - he seems to be saying he sent in his good, high
security lock and got back their bottom-of-the-line as the "replacement".
IOW they didn't give value for value in their replacement program, if I
read him right. Not kosher. Just because it won't open with a Bic pen
doesn't make it equitable and fair.

What model was the old one? I sent two locks to Kryptonite and was able
to select their modern equivalents on Kryponite's returns website.
