Narrower chains on 1985 6 speed?

I think the SRAM PC-58 is nickel plated and a bit more bling. Good
stuff.

Use a PC-48 series for 8s...since you say it's 'shimano 600', it is
indexing one ..6s, 7s and 8s spacing is pretty close together-don't use
a 9s chain.

Also use the least expensive compatible chain..no need for plating and
the other things that make it expensive. They are just more expensive,
not 'nicer'...same pins, rollers and plates that make it a chain.
