    hello,

    i am complete novice to mountain biking. i am looking to get a bike to commute and also for path riding for fitness/fun.

    i have the oppertunity to buy either;

    2005 trek 6500 for 300 gbp
    specialized stumpjumper for 300 gbp
    Carrera Banshee 7000 series for 150 gbp

    ideally i would prefer to be paying nearer the 150 mark for my first bike but i would also like to make sure the bike i do buy is light weight and has the capacity to be used on bike trails. basically i dont want to buy a rubbish bike.

    i would really appreacate comments and advice on the bikes mentioned.
