Slugs

From my experience slugs like the damp and succulent broad leaved
vegetation close to ground level to munch on. If you can avoid low
vegetation hopefully the slugs will be dining elsewhere...

Take your pet hedgehog camping with you ?

Or leave a beer trap a little way from your tent. Remember not
to finish the can for breakfast.

my weight on to them!

Outwith their role as pests in the artificial environments of gardens
and crop fields, slugs surely deserve our respect as fellow creatures.
Like any other organism, they are superbly designed, and have a
fascinating biology.

Agreed. They are interesting, just not the nicest of things to wake up and
see all over your pack, and be finding for days after, were they have died
and left a horrible slimy mess all over your kit that is near impossible to
remove.

And they like pizza crusts as we discovered on a camp site in France some
years ago.... boyfriend at that time almost bonded with one over dinner

And they quite like leftover fondue too, which actually proved to be a
bonus at Uags as a radula is /very/ effective as a pan scrubber! ;-)

If I remember my viewing of Summer Watch with the ex-Goodie Bill Oddie
correctly.... The Black Slugs only munch on dead wood material and its
the horrid browny-yellowy ones that cause the damage to living
things.... and like beer..... and probably leave slime trails on
camping gear.... Our Bill suggested a slogan "If it's black... Put it
back!"
