  1. After Boonen won the champs, I got to thinking... what if? What if Boonen were to compete in the upcoming Belgian national champs, and win? Would he continue to wear the World champ jersey, would he wear the Belgian champ? Would they even let him compete in the race? Would the 2nd place finisher in the Belgian nats get to wear the Belgian jersey?

I remember that Museeuw and Cammenzind won their nats and the worlds in the same year, but they won their nats before they won the worlds...

Am I thinking to hard about this? 🙂

  2. I reckon he'd wear a combination of the two, like the Belgian national jersey with the rainbow stripes for the worlds or something like that.

For most countries national road campionships take place in June, Serge Baguet is the current Belgian champion. In any event, world champion jersey takes precedence over a nationl jersey. Boonen must wear the world championship jersey unless he is the Pro Tour leader or leader of a stage race with a leader's jersey. Only the national champion wears the jersey, it doesn't revert to the second place finisher is the winner isn't wearing it.
