Cycle Computer dark screen

I know it's normal for Schwins, I have 3.

It's not normal for me not to see my speedo or the other things.

I just want one that works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am using the cateye CD300DW. It's wireless with cadence functions. It is fairly easy to see during the day. It also has a button that will light up the screen, though the light only stays on for a few seconds. I don't think it's possible to keep the light on the whole time. It works well, but the wireless unit is kinda big. It's hard getting it just right.

Hopefully someone has an answer to this. I have the same problem. Last summer my Schwinn computer worked fine, but this summer the screen is dark when I start my commute and is perfectly fine on the way home at night. Both ways it is useless because I can't see it😠 . Who has one that doesn't do this? What brand?

Yeah because it's a CHEAP ass computer ($12-$15) at walmart and the sun gets to it if it stays in 1 place for a long time then when you get it out of the sun it cools off.
I have 2 of the Schwinn computers and they have better functions than the POS Cateye Enduro 8 that cost 2.5 times more than the CHEAP Schwinn computers!! But it does take longer for my Cateye screen to go black in the sun.

My Schwinn takes 5 minutes in bright sun.

they all do this if they get too hot but 10 mins ????? is it sitting in the sun for a long time before you ride ? are you using polerised sun glasses as this effect can occur when viewing the screen with some sunglasses .

I keep a cover over the computer until I ride. I do NOT use polaroids.

I have 3 of these and will have to put them in the sun in a test and see which one goes black LAST.

I was all ready to buy a Cateye until VaBiker said "But it does take longer for my Cateye screen to go black in the sun."

So I don't know how much better a Cateye is.
