Finally got around to buying some steel and making up a rack for my five
bikes.

All up it cost me less than $40 for the steel, threaded rods (bent into
hooks at one end so I can adjust the individual height of each bike), and
dynabolts. Basically I welded up two brackets out of right angle steel and
bolted a rectangular bit of box section to the top. The rectangular bit is
50mm x 20mm and 1200mm long with a 10mm hole every 100mm so that I can
adjust the hooks (1m lengths of M10 threaded rod cut in half, bent at one
end, and covered with some old bike tubes that will probably get replaced
with some lagging from Clark rubber).
I am lucky enough to have a mate who has pretty well got every conceivable
metal working tool in his shed (got to play with arc welder, mig welder, tig
welder, plasma cutter, bender, drill press, grinder, steel cutting
bandsaw.........was great fun and we might have a crack soon at making some
horizontal dropouts and cold pressing the rear triangles of my SS so that I
can fit in the 110mm BMX hub that I have lined up for it.
I am pretty happy with the end result and I now have stacks more room in the
shed.........I wonder if I could fit another bike in there?????
Ride On,
