I was not aware of such a beast, and am suspicious that that must be one
rather strange-looking sole. What model of shoe?

that the cleat is recessed, but only to the point of being "level" with
the rest of the sole. They still "clack", the cleat still contacts the

The recess on the Lakes actually holds the cleat away from the surface
you're walking on. Hence, no "clack's" or "crunches", not even on
asphalt.

Indeed - using Look cleats. Make of shoe - Look - I kid you not.

Seems it's a discontinued line. Shame - it's a market Look is missing out
on. I *adore* this footwear so much I have three pairs. One pair in use and
two still brand new in boxes ready for when existing pair wear out! I got
the last remaining pairs at a cycle trade fair at the hugely expensive price
for leather footwear complete with cleats... less than the equivalent of $10
a pair (No I haven't missed a zero from the end of that!). Current pair have
lasted three years so far with almost daily use, so I have many years of
happy feet ahead of me I hope 🙂

No, nothing like those ones 🙂 Mine look like a trainer 'boot' due to high
ankle support. White leather, Look logo, lace-ups with velcro strap to go
over tie-point of laces. I love them. I use them all year round.

I got a pair of the guy's version of the CX120. Had to send them back,
though, as they were a tad too small. My newer ones should arrive tomorrow.
I hope they work for my purpose...

If you don't mind please report back to the group on usability of these
shoes. It would be interesting to know if, with a Look type road cleat,
they are as walkable as with a typical SPD shoe.

I don't have Look-type road cleats....I'm using SPD shoes. From the
Look-type cleats I've seen, I'd wonder too. However, with SPDs, I think
they'll work fine. I haven't put mine on yet, as I just got them last night
and was more concerned about fit at this point....

There does seem to be a good bit of clearance from where the SPD cleat would
be to the ground, but these shoes do have a curvature (high toe) so I can't
say for sure how much clearance they really is. I'll post back later after
I put the cleats on them.
