  1. if so, how does it ride? is this a relaxed goemetry touring frame or a race frame. I am looking for something with a tourin g style fram e thatr can give a fast ride when asked to do so. The merlin web site has no info, and i can't get a straight answer from customer support.

    I don't have the Fortius, but; the geometry of the discontinued 2004 model is listed in the attached JPG below. Not what I would characterize as a relaxed or touring frame. The info on the bike is still surreptitiously accessible at:
    merlinbike.comfortius.aspx
    though the model is no longer being made by Merlin.
    I think that their Solis model is a bit more upright if that is what you are looking for.
    (If you look at the above link be aware that the current models are under the .../bikes/2005/... tree whereas the 2004 models are still vestigially under the .../bikes/... tree)
