  1. Hey All, seeking a little advice.

My Basics: 29 years old, 6'0" 183 lbs 34 inch waist, athletic, very
    active in Hockey/Golf/Ultimate Frisbee.

I've been out of the gym for about 4 years npw, and formerly would be in
the gym 4-5 days a week, for 1 hour workouts. Combo of machines/free
    weights.

There is circuit training facility thats opened in my area, and it looks
incredibly convenient for me to go their regularily.

But the issue is, I know little to nothing about circuit training and its
effectiveness. I enjoy the tradional gym, but the location/time
committment is difficult for me right now.

What should my expectations be from circuit training? I am not trying to
get "as big as I can be", but at the same time I would like to increase my
muscle mass. Building muscle mass has been fairly easy for me in the past
when dedicated to it, but tone has been more difficult.

    Any advice is appreciated.

No reason for taking 4 years off will be accepted. 😉

Will it end your 4 year layoff? If so, do it.

If you move through the circuit fast enough you don't need any
cardio. You do one set and then move on to the next exercise
quickly until you've completed the circuit. You take a few
minutes off then complete the circuit again.

That you won't have to do cardio if you go fast enough. Even
though it's set up as a circuit, it doesn't mean you have to
follow it. You can still do 3 sets of an exercise then move on.

Lift heavy weights for 6-8 reps and eat more than you burn and
    that will happen.

Keep your carbs down and your protein up.

  3. Thanks locker,

I did some more Circuit training reading, and it seems to be suitable, but
not perfect option to going to the gym for 1-1.5 hours day.

Fortununately the team sports I play 3 nights a week will make up for any
holes the Circuit leaves in my cardio training. I concluded today that I am
going to give it a serious try and see what kind of results I can get.
