It really depends on the individual and how much prior training you have, etc.. But a lot of the people (Cat 3's) I know put in anywhere from 8-16hrs a week, and that includes time spent weight training.

  3. most people i know measure their training in hours. if i am on the trainer in the garage, i have no idea what i haev done miles wise. Same thing goes for when i am xc skiing. Most people have zones and stick with zones and hours.

I don't know the answer to your question but I agree with Rideastrong in that it may be easier to track hours in zone "X". If you are doing base miles on an indoor trainer the resistance unit will vary from actual road mileage so it's hard to compare the two.

  5. Hit it out, bro.

    Go long, go strong.

Jam it, kick it up, bring down the hammer, bro.

Then take a day off to count the dead in your wake, perform last rites.

Then kick it out again, bro.

Exactly what I would have said 😉

  7. During the winter, don't forget to do some Isolated Leg Training workouts on the bike, and focus on pedaling in circles...These can really make you more efficient when it comes time to hammer! I recommend buying The Cyclists Training Bible by Joe Friel I think? Or one of Chris Carmichael's books.
