  1. Has anybody tried to fit a nexus 7 speed hub with a coaster brake onto a road bike with vertical dropouts. I have heard that this is impossible to do.

  2. You could try modifying a chain tensioner to stay in one place, but it would probably still slip under braking. The only other option is to try to find a cog/chainring combo that works without any slack. In this case you're going to have to break the chain every time you take the rear wheel off.

  4. A chain tensioner is the go. A cheaper option that I've also done is to take any old derailleur and mess with the H and L limit screws (putting in longer ones if necessary) so that the derailleur cage can't move anywhere, making it a de facto singlespeed chain tensioner 🙂
