  1. I never win anything. UPS knocked on my door yesterday afternoon; I had to
sign for an envelope. The envelope was addressed to my CAT. Inside was an
envelope containing a letter addressed to Persia, in care of me, with 12
vouchers for free Hill's prescription cat food for a year! I was floored.
Looked at Persia. Who have you been typing to? She just licked her paws
and rolled over wanting tummy rubs. Sneaky cute cat 🙂

Called the vet; yes they will accept these coupons and they know Persia is
on Hill's x/d food. The woman chuckled, wouldn't it be funny if Peaches got
a similar deal? Well, they aren't an avian vet but they board her when I
travel. Maybe I should clue her avian vet in?

OB Food: I have snow crab claws and legs thawing in the freezer. I'll steam
those and I've got plenty of unsalted butter and the crackers and picks
waiting! Also plan on putting some squash and maybe chicken on the grill.

That's pretty cool. Think of the money saved next year. That could
be put to "foodie use". (For you this time instead of Persia <G>😉
    BTW, I've never won anything.

    Jill,

Congratulations to you and Persia for winning that free cat food!

Sounds great, but I've gotta ask...why are they *thawing* in your
    freezer?? 😉

Yeah, your vet sold their records to a commercial outfit.

    Technically, you didn't win.
    Persia did.

Yeah, your vet sold their records to a commercial outfit.

I'm going to complain about that? About free food?

Actually, I did have that happen when my dog Sampson died. He was on a
prescription drug called Anipryl for a year before he died. A month after
he died I got a coupon in the mail for this drug - a free "trial". I
wouldn't have thought a thing about it except they mentioned the name of X
vet at the bottom. I pitched a fit. Wrote a letter to the mfg. and cc'd
the vet - how dare you? He's DEAD, dammit, and only a month and I'm still
heartbroken. Take me OFF your mailing list.

I got a letter of apology from the vet (not the one who treated him, she
wouldn't have done this, it was the owner of the practice who never saw my
dog a day in his life) - yes, he admitted, they gave out his information,
thinking it could help. He further said he had no idea my dog was so ill.
Excuse me... he'd been a patient there for 6 years, you should have known he
was already on this drug at $80 month and no one offered me a coupon for
that. You should also know I'd been buying Rx dog food for him from your
clinic for 5 years; his chart showed he had arthritis, congestive heart
failure, etc. He was 18 years old when you put him to sleep. But you
didn't KNOW he was ill, let alone dead? Ever occur to you to pull his
chart? Screw his apology; I was very upset.

(blowing out a breath, relaxing)... okay, but whatever the circumstances,
I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Persia has to eat prescription
food since she had bladder surgery for stones and a cyst in 2004 and if the
vet will give it to me free with these vouchers, so be it. I'm not
complaining about free $12 for a 4 lb. bag of Hills x/d for a year. And the
coupon is worded rather vaguely - up to 20 lbs dry or a case of canned. So
I figure I can get the vet to order five 4-lb. bags (which equals 20 lbs)
and one coupon should cover that. 🙂

Gotta tell you, Persia is so enamoured of this particular food the vet and I
had to put her on a diet. Only 1/2 cup of food a day. Fat chance she'll
ever pick up the phone and call the vet under her own steam 😉 That's the
place with they poke and prod you.

Speaking of steam... crab legs! Oy vey! She's gonna go nuts over this.
She's gonna be headbutting and mrrphing, no doubt! And here I thought
grilling was something for her to fuss about. It's a lovely 87F here today,
breezy, not humid and I've got the windows open so Persia is lounging in a
    sunbeam and looking outside.

I guess our 5 are overfed, but they always seem hungry. They each get half
of a 7oz. can in the morning and again at night, plus all the dry food they
    want.

Right now it's only 89F here and all 5 our our furballs are lounging out on
our screened porch. They'll have to come in before afternoon as it will be
    around 106F.

    That'd be welcome. I have to get Mingy's c/d this week.... I
