1. I am a 28 year old female. I have been living in Denver for the past
one and a half years. After about 2 months of coming to denver, I
started having pain in both my feet after walking/running for sometime.
The pain is in the horizontal line at the top of the foot where the leg
meets the foot. There is no redness or swelling. I also dont see any
restricted movement.

I used to do a lot of aerobics/running before. But now the pain starts
just after five minutes of walking. If I stop for a minute, it goes
away too.

I spent around 3 months away from denver and I never had any pain
during that time. But once I came back, it again started after a couple
of months.

Another thing to note: I do not feel any pain in case of start-stop
walking like going around in a mall since you stop a lot inbetween.

I went to a doctor last week. Waiting for the xray results but getting
anxious.

Can any of you comment on what these symptoms may represent?

Thanks
Karen

2. Your symptoms represent your body's inability to withstand the damage of
running. Sincerely, Mister Obvious

Any chance your laces are too tight and slowing circulation? New or
different shoes?

Do you wear different shoes?

5. No, I have not tried different pairs of shoes. But I once tried walking
in bathroom slippers with the same result.

My foot x-rays came out negative today. Dont know what all they check
though.

X-rays look for bone issues such as stress fractures, breaks, arthritis,
etc. It's a cheap but effective way to rule bone problems in or out. if
that shows nothing they should progress to the more expensive tests like
CT-scan or MRI to look for soft tissue problems.

Your not getting many hits on this because it is an odd location for
typical running problems.

Good luck and let us know how this turns out.

You need new shoes.

No, I do not wear different shoes. But recently I tried walking inside
on the carpet barefoot. The pain started after 6-7 minutes of
continuous walk.

Ok, I guess I have to be blunt. What brand and model shore are you
wearing?

(PTSD)
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Causes
When you are afraid, your body activates the "fight or flight"
response—a reference to our caveman ancestors facing a tiger. In
reaction, your body releases adrenaline, which is responsible for
increasing blood pressure and heart rate and increasing glucose to
muscles (to allow you to run away quickly in the face of immediate
danger). However, once the immediate danger (which may or may not
have actually existed) is gone, the body begins a process of shutting
down the stress response, and this process involves the release of
another hormone known as cortisol.
If your body does not generate enough cortisol to shut down the flight
or stress reaction, you may continue to feel the stress effects of the
adrenaline. Trauma victims who develop PTSD often have higher levels of
other stimulating hormones (catecholamines) under normal conditions in
which the threat of trauma is not present. These same hormones kick in
when they are reminded of their trauma.
Physically, your body also increases your heart rate. After a month in
this heightened state, with stress hormones elevated, you may develop
further physical changes, such as heightened hearing. This cascade of
physical changes, one triggering another, suggests that early
intervention may be the key to heading off the effects of PTSD.
