What is the single best way to work your triceps using free weights? At the
moment I do the bent over row with a dumbell and one leg on the bench, bring
the dumb up to my body then taking it back down. Any other ideas? Thanks.

For the obvious: There are triceps extensions and benching.
Oh, and handstand pushups, (Balance the weight on your feet. Send us a
link to the video if you do this.)- bc

Crow,
I typically work the tricep in isolation using cable exercises but
sometimes do close-grip bench also. I typically only do three sets in
isolation since my triceps get hit hard using compound exercises:
incline press, dips, and overhead press. The isolation just finishes
them off. If I had to only use free weights for triceps I would do
close-grip bench or nose busters.James

Thanks.Try doing movements that work your tris instead of your traps.

Ooh good catch!
I missed that when I read his post.Rows are for back.
Dumbell kickbacks work triceps.

you mean tricep kickbacks. There are plenty of better tricep exercises.Try close grip bench or dips. Overhead tricep extensions are good too.

Ive all my weight training im not overly good at everything but my triceps
im relatively happy with. Ive found the single best exercise for it are
what I think is called the reverse tricep extension.
Basically use a preacher bar and use a close grip while laying on a bench.
The bar goes behind your head and as low as u can get it. The key with doing
the extension is to make sure the upper arm stays relatively steady with the
movement done at the elbow. I always feel the strain on the tricep directly
and generally the pain is isolated to the area you want to work.
After 3-4 sets I do tricep presses on a bench without weights.
If only I could be as satisfied with this as my other muscles I'd be
laughing.Other good variations are diamond pushups.
I find tricep dips good too but only to compliment other routines.
I hope this is very useful to those of you interested.
Cheers."Jeff Finlayson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

Dips, military press, or bench; probably in that order though YMMV.

forwards and lower and raise my body (cant remember the name). But then
my tris are quite weak at the moment. -

close grip bench press
<http://www.aussiebodies.com.au/resources/bb_close_bench_press.gif>
followed by overhead triceps extension with a single dumbbell held with
both hands <http://www.illpumpyouup.com/articles/images/overhead.gif>.Quoted message said:
