  1. Here's a couple picked totally at random, oh yes.

BROMPTON. British-made folder popular with commuters. [....] Owning a
Brompton is a privilege, not a right, and potential buyers must pass the
15-second rule: those unable to fold or unfold one in that time are gently
    steered elsewhere.

CYCLE LANE. Separate but unequal facility constructed more out of guilt
than a sincere desire to be helpful. By law such lanes must end wherever
they become the slightest bit inconvenient to other road users. Often
confused by motorists as emergency parking for a quick nip into the shop.

((Well _I_ hadn't seen them before...))

    How could you not mention....?

BROOKS SADDLE. Constructed of hard leather, sometimes mistaken for
titanium. Must be broken in -- the rider, that is. Favoured by traditional
cyclists who traditionally forgo comfort for pain, which may account for the
awful grimaces you sometimes see on their faces. Not so bad once you go
numb. Recommended for male cyclists who wish to remain without issue.
[Brooks veterans may regard this entry as outrageous hyperbole, to which we
    respond: yeah, all right, probably.]

COMMUTER CHALLENGE. An often spontaneous competition between otherwise
mild-mannered office-types. While there is no set distance or course,
whoever is faster wins. Ignoring red lights automatically invalidates, nay
cheapens, any victory. Upon finding themselves outclassed, participants
wishing to drop out may either stop and get a drink from their water bottle
or turn onto a side street until the threat has passed.

But you might remember that I am of the 'Bent Tendency (aka The Darkside)
and that the comfy chair is held in high regard (among our many weapons).
At Mildenhall on Monday I bought a Brooks for one of my Moultons, and it's
lovely! Well, it could do with a bit of feeding because it's quite
possibly 50+ years old and has had no attention in that time, but it's a
very comfortable saddle. Hard, but comfy.

Anyway, titanium is light, and no-one has ever accused a Brooks of being
light. If the anonymous writer (too subtle for SAM I feel) had used
"cast-iron" it would have been closer.

The location of that file ('solo'😉 will give a not-so-subtle clue as to
    its author.

Perched myself upon a Swift not long ago. It was lovely.
