    No

  3. Just heard that my employer will be offering some sort of subsidised
bike scheme next year, though no details yet. I just hope I get a
decent choice of bikes and it doesn't involve Halfords!

    druidh

  4. Just found out that our company is doing that too, and it does involve
    Halfrauds!!

  9. Another QQ inmate here. I'm under the impression that although we have to
buy through Halfords, they can obtain any bike on sale in the UK. Sounds
like a world of pain to me, but I'm looking forward to trying to get a
Ribble frame & fork when the scheme starts!

  10. Oh, and there's a £grand limit on the discount, you have to make up anything
    above that yourself.

And there are a bunch of other gotchas. You do not have the right to
buy the bike from the company at the end of the lease. You have to pay
market value if you do buy the bike.

The 1grand limit is because the company are making use of the IR group
consumer credit act agreement which has a limit of 1K. There is no
specific limit in the legislation as long as the company has a Consumer
Credit License to cover the amount.

Buying exotic/high resale items (Trice, Brompton etc.) could lead to
complicated tax as discussed in earlier threads.

    ...d

  12. All in all it seems like more bother than it's worth! Besides, I am plotting
an escape anyway ... just wondering if I could benefit before I left!
