Hi,
New roadie, and the road specific clips are much different than my mountain clipless. Can you use an allen wrench to loosen the clips. Am I missing something, or are they really easy to loosen. Thanks

I have the Ultegra 6610 pedals and they are really easy to loosen. Just a turn with my smallest allen wrench loosens or tightens them. I think your 540's are the same design just different material. I think you will like them. -
Does the allen fit in the tiny hole on the top of the pedal?

Mine has a hole on the back of the pedal with a "+" on one side and a "-" on the other. I am not sure about the 540
