It gets very confusing.
Lying is a capital offence now.
But not if it's not under oath.

Call it the Tom Cruise Hypothesis - everything an actor does in public,
private life as well as on-screen - could be considered as a "performance".
You'd never know if it was true or false. If it's not under oath or sworn on
an affidavit, it doesn't count. Is that the level of finesse we have to live
with?
