It took me a while to get use to the ever expanding size of SUV's while
rinding, and just as I thought that was it, there has been a new
developement. Now every SUV is pulling some sort of trailer behind them.
All kinds of utility trailers, some home-made, others like Wells Cargo
types. It's like, Damn, I don't have enough room in my SUV, so now I have
to pull a trailer too, to put all my [censored] in it. Now if the trailers were
the same width as the SUV, it wouldn't be too bad, but most I've seen are a
foot to sometimes 2 feet wider than the SUV. If the sucker doesn't go over
the yellow when he goes by, yer going down. How stupid.
As gas prices go up, I thought I'd see less drivers on the road. But
I've seen as prices go up, number of cars goes up. I look at the faces of
drivers, and there is frantic nature to them. It's like, the gas is running
out, and by God I'm going use my share so no one else gets it. Weekend
early mornings use to be almost clear of cars, now it's like rush hour.
People are on 24/7 schedules now, and they must rack up 50K miles a year
now. Personally I drive 10K a year, and ride 10K also. Before I took up
riding, I drove 12k/ year. So look at me I'm taking up more road space too.
Saw I guy in full Discovery kit today for the first time. It's sharp
looking. The guy was in the 60-70 year old range. Weighed about 190. Full
kit from head to toe, even the new Trek Madone model, under him. He must
have walked into the bike shop and said, "make me into Lance." At least he
wasn't wearing the yellow Discovery jersey, he might be thinking he has to
earn that. He was going slow, but not real slow.
