Sometimes even drinking a lot of water doesnot make me less thirsty. Someone told me thats because
the maximum amount of water your body can absorb is 0,5 liter an hour but in hot weather you can
loose a 1 liter or more. If you drink more than 0.5 liter an hour you just pis more. Is he wright? I
don't want to haul extra water that is just wasted.

If you drink water with a little salt and sugar in it, you'll absorb more of it and [censored] less away
than plain water.JT

Try mixing an electrolyte replacement or even an energy powder with it. Vary the amount depending on
the temperature, less as the heat rises.May you have the wind at your back. And a really low gear for the hills! Chris

Don't you have to absorb the water before it can come out as urine? Now if it came out as #2, that
would be a different story...."gerrit van wijk" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

I advocate drinking more than you need. The weight and the waste is worth the safety and health.

I don't want to haul extra water that is just wasted.I don't know except by personal anecdotal evidence, but here in Arizona I could drink a 100oz (over
3 liter) Camelbak dry in a 45 minute effort and not have to urinate when I was done, nor would I
gain any discernable weight. I guess I can't be sure the water was totally "absorbed", but I do know
it was all "in there somewhere" (at least that which hadn't been filtered into the air through my
jersey). ;-)Mark Hickey Habanero Cycles habcycles.comhabcycles.comOpen ↗ Home of the $695 ti frame

Geez... my fonts are unreadable.... I thought you recommended Ouzo... The more you drink the less
you'll care about it! <fixed now> NS -

myself before/after, but have drained a 3-liter bag in a couple hours without having to pee - no
salt, no supplements...just H20.

PeteCresswellSimilar here in Maryland, but I need to have both water and Gatoraide. After the 1st quart of water,
it just doesn't quench my thirst. When I drink both, I don't get thristy (unless I get too absorbed
in the trail and forget to drink for a time 🙂).But, I answer to the question, I'll go through 3 liters of water from my hydration pak and 1-1/2
quarts of gatoraide on the frame in a 2 hour ride -- and sometimes wish that I had more!David
